Mayor Greg Fischer today announced that Manfred Reid Sr., a longtime advocate for affordable housing in Louisville, is the 2017 recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Award.
Reid is a former Louisville real estate broker who lives at Beecher Terrace and has been chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Louisville Metro Housing Authority since 2000.
Fischer will present the Freedom Award on Sunday, Jan. 15 during the “Keepers of the Dream” community arts celebration dedicated to Dr. King, at the Kentucky Center’s Whitney Hall, 501 W. Main St. The event is free and open to the public.
Congratulations Manfred, you are so deserving of this award. We are proud to have you as the Louisville Housing Authority’s chairman and on the Vision Russell team.
