As part of the Russell/Beecher Terrace Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant, Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) and the Louisville Metro Government will be recreating or enhancing significant recreational amenities on and near Beecher Terrace. These include:
- Replacing Old Walnut Street Park;
- Preserving the historic Baxter Community Center building;
- Improving Baxter Square Park; and
- Providing new recreational activities
Since we were unable to hold in-person meetings because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the planning team conducted a survey and a series of virtual focus group meetings in November 2020 to help better understand what recreational uses members of the community would like to see in the future.
Input from the survey and focus groups has been used to develop some preliminary concepts for Beecher’s recreational amenities. We hope you can join us during one of the following upcoming virtual workshops to give us your feedback on these designs.
