Quinn Chapel Stabilization

Louisville Metro Government, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Louisville, is working to stabilize and repair the historic Quinn Chapel, located on W. Chestnut St. at Roy Wilkins Ave. The church, which dates to the mid-19th century, is one of the few remaining historical structures on the 900 block of W. Chestnut St., and one of the few known Civil Rights sites remaining in Louisville, as many buildings in historic African American neighborhoods were razed during Urban Renewal.

Funds for this project are being provided by a National Park Service African American Civil Rights Grant, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s African American Cultural Heritage Fund, a HUD Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, and the Louisville Metro Government. For more information about the Quinn Chapel history, stabilization, and restoration, visit https://louisvilleky.gov/government/quinn-chapel.
